You order 2 m because it feels safe. Your designs use 1.3 m. The rest goes in the bin. Multiply that by a year of orders and it's real money. Here are six ways to bring your cost per print down—with the maths shown, using the prices on our site at the time of writing.
About the numbers
Prices are Retail, GST included, at the time of writing: DTF $23/m, DTP $26/m. Current prices are always on the Sizes & Pricing page. Layouts are worked examples with 1 cm between designs.
1. Work out your cost per print, not per metre
A metre means nothing to your customer. What matters is what each print costs you. Here's a common job: left-chest logos at 10 × 10 cm.

2. Use the 10 cm steps—sometimes 10 cm more is cheaper per print
Gang sheets come in 10 cm steps from 1 m to 5 m. That means you can size the sheet to the job. And sometimes adding 10 cm makes every print cheaper, because it fits another row.

3. Put the whole week on one sheet
One sheet can carry different jobs: back prints for one client, left-chest logos for another, a test print for a new garment. Combining them fills the space you're paying for.
4. Open a Trade Account (ABN holders)
If you have an ABN, apply for a Trade Account. Once your ABN is verified, you pay 15% less than Retail on DTF and DTP. The rate is public—no negotiation.
5. Pay with VIP Gift Card credit
If you print regularly, buying ahead with a VIP Gift Card adds bonus credit on top of what you pay. Current pack rates:
